Monitoring Chronic Absence: We
Need Your Help Now!
Attendance Works seeks the help
of attendance supervisors in completing a brief but
important five minute survey on the use of student
data to identify and monitor whether students or
even schools are at risk due to poor attendance.
Recent legislation has defined the term "chronic
absentee" and promoted the use of early warning
systems to identify high-risk students; however, the
capacity of districts to use student data to
identify and monitor whether they have a significant
level of chronic absence remains unknown.
By completing this survey, you will help Attendance
Works and the State SARB offer professional
development and resources that will help educators
throughout California implement a more comprehensive
program for increasing school attendance and
reducing dropouts. Implementing a comprehensive
school attendance improvement and dropout reduction
program has never been more challenging than it is
now. We need your help in understanding what we can
do to help schools and communities work together to
ensure students go to school every day so they can
learn and thrive.
Go to:
Attendance Works Chronic Absence Survey to send
in the responses for your district now!.
As an added incentive to participate, Attendance
Works will enter the name of everyone who responds
to the survey by October 12th into a raffle to
receive a free flight on Southwest Airlines. The
award winner will be selected at the October 18th
state SARB meeting!!!
Please encourage your colleagues to complete the
survey in the link so that we can be better informed
about what attendance programs are currently
implementing. Also, please note the incentive that
Hedy is offering!
